The American Endurance Ride Conference changed its ruling on the use of Omeprazole as a preventative under Rule 13, to allow the drug in dosages of 1 mg/ kg/per day.  This change of the rule which previously prohibited active use of Omeprazole during a sanctioned ride, opened the door for preventing ulcers in competition horses.  Consult your veterinarian concerning the treatment and prevention of equine ulcers in your performance horse.
